Salmo 8

¹Salmo de Davi para o regente, com “Gitite”: Ah DEUS, nosso Senhor, quão glorioso é o teu nome sobre toda a terra! Pois tu puseste tua majestade acima dos céus.

²Da boca das crianças, e dos que mamam, tu fundaste força, por causa de teus adversários, para fazer cessar ao inimigo e ao vingador.

³Quando eu vejo teus céus, obra de teus dedos; a lua e as estrelas, que tu preparaste;

⁴O que é o homem, para que tu te lembres dele? E o que é o filho do homem, para que o visites?

⁵E tu o fizeste um pouco menor que os anjos; e com glória e honra tu o coroaste.

⁶Tu o fazes ter controle sobre as obras de tuas mãos; tudo puseste debaixo de seus pés.

⁷Ovelhas e bois, todos eles, e também os animais do campo;

⁸As aves dos céus, e os peixes do mar; e os que passam pelos caminhos dos mares.

⁹Ó DEUS, nosso Senhor! Quão glorioso é o teu nome sobre toda a terra!

¹To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

²Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

³When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

⁴What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

⁵For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

⁶Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

⁷All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

⁸The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

⁹O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!

²Domine, Dominus noster, quam admirabile est nomen tuum in universa terra! quoniam elevata est magnificentia tua super cælos.

³Ex ore infantium et lactentium perfecisti laudem propter inimicos tuos, ut destruas inimicum et ultorem.

⁴Quoniam videbo cælos tuos, opera digitorum tuorum, lunam et stellas quæ tu fundasti.

⁵Quid est homo, quod memor es ejus? aut filius hominis, quoniam visitas eum?

⁶Minuisti eum paulominus ab angelis; gloria et honore coronasti eum;

⁷et constituisti eum super opera manuum tuarum.

⁸Omnia subjecisti sub pedibus ejus, oves et boves universas, insuper et pecora campi,

⁹volucres cæli, et pisces maris qui perambulant semitas maris.

¹⁰Domine, Dominus noster, quam admirabile est nomen tuum in universa terra!

¹Εἰς τὸ τέλος, ὑπὲρ τῶν ληνῶν· ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυείδ.

²Κύριε ὁ κύριος ἡμῶν, ὡς θαυμαστὸν τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ· ὅτι ἐπήρθη ἡ μεγαλοπρεπία σου ὑπεράνω τῶν οὐρανῶν.

³ἐκ στόματος νηπίων καὶ θηλαζόντων κατηρτίσω αἶνον ἕνεκα τῶν ἐχθρῶν σου, τοῦ καταλῦσαι ἐχθρὸν καὶ ἐκδικητήν.

⁴ὅτι ὄψομαι τοὺς οὐρανούς, ἔργα τῶν δακτύλων σου, σελήνην καὶ ἀστέρας ἃ σὺ ἐθεμελίωσας·

⁵τί ἐστιν ἄνθρωπος ὅτι μιμνήσκῃ αὐτοῦ, ἢ υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου ὅτι ἐπισκέπτῃ αὐτόν;

⁶ἠλάττωσας αὐτὸν βραχύ τι παρ᾽ ἀγγέλους, δόξῃ καὶ τιμῇ ἐστεφάνωσας αὐτόν.

⁷καὶ κατέστησας αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὰ ἔργα χειρῶν σου· πάντα ὑπέταξας ὑποκάτω τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ,

⁸πρόβατα καὶ βόας πάσας, ἔτι δὲ καὶ τὰ κτήνη τοῦ πεδίου,

⁹τὰ πετεινὰ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ καὶ τοὺς ἰχθύας τῆς θαλάσσης, τὰ διαπορευόμενα τρίβους θαλασσῶν.
