Salmo 127

¹Cântico dos degraus, de Salomão: Se o SENHOR não estiver edificando a casa, em vão trabalham nela seus construtores; se o SENHOR não estiver guardando a cidade, em vão o guarda vigia.

²Inutilmente levantais de madrugada e descansais tarde, para comerdes o pão de dores; porque assim ele dá sono a quem ele ama.

³Eis que os filhos são um presente do SENHOR; o fruto do ventre é uma recompensa.

⁴Como flechas na mão do guerreiro, assim são os filhos da juventude.

⁵Bem-aventurado é o homem que enche deles seu porta-flechas; eles não serão envergonhados, quando falarem com os inimigos à porta.

¹A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

²It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

³Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

⁴As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

⁵Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

¹Canticum graduum Salomonis. Nisi Dominus ædificaverit domum, in vanum laboraverunt qui ædificant eam. Nisi Dominus custodierit civitatem, frustra vigilat qui custodit eam.

²Vanum est vobis ante lucem surgere: surgite postquam sederitis, qui manducatis panem doloris. Cum dederit dilectis suis somnum,

³ecce hæreditas Domini, filii; merces, fructus ventris.

⁴Sicut sagittæ in manu potentis, ita filii excussorum.

⁵Beatus vir qui implevit desiderium suum ex ipsis: non confundetur cum loquetur inimicis suis in porta.

¹ᾨδὴ τῶν ἀναβαθμῶν. Ἐὰν μὴ Κύριος οἰκοδομήσῃ οἶκον, εἰς μάτην ἐκοπίασαν οἱ οἰκοδομοῦντες αὐτόν· ἐὰν μὴ Κύριος φυλάξῃ πόλιν, εἰς μάτην ἠγρύπνησεν ὁ φυλάσσων.

²εἰς μάτην ἐστὶν ὑμῖν τοῦ ὀρθρίζειν, ἐγείρεσθαι μετὰ τὸ καθῆσθαι, οἱ ἔσθοντες ἄρτον ὀδύνης, ὅταν δῷ τοῖς ἀγαπητοῖς αὐτοῦ ὕπνον.

³ἰδοὺ ἡ κληρονομία Κυρίου υἱοί, ὁ μισθὸς τοῦ καρποῦ τῆς γαστρὸς αὐτῆς.

⁴ὡσεὶ βέλη ἐν χειρὶ δυνατοῦ, οὕτως οἱ υἱοὶ τῶν ἐκτετιναγμένων.

⁵μακάριος ὃς πληρώσει τὴν ἐπιθυμίαν αὐτοῦ ἐξ αὐτῶν· οὐ καταισχυνθήσεται, ὅταν λαλῶσι τοῖς ἐχθροῖς αὐτῶν ἐν πύλῃ.
